Tunes::Ellen CarolKarma had a major hand in the creation of Slidin Ellen Carol's current release. In 2005 Ellen was asked to record some back up vocals by fellow acoustic artist Nigel Barnes, who has been in the music industry for nearly 30 years. Ellen has no idea Nigel had performed with notable people such as Ian Thomas and Ron Sexsmith when she agreed to the project. The mixing of the project took her to The Gas Station where she was introduced to Don Kerr who mentioned he was building a new studio in his home. “I would love to help with the process. I am pretty handy.” Ellen piped up from the corner. Until then she was quietly drinking coffee and watching Mr. Kerr work his magic. At the end of the day Don took her cd “Buttercup Hamsterjuice” to listen to and a couple months later he took her up on her offer to help in the construction of the studio. “What an incredible experience. Soundproofing is quite the extensive process. Now I know how to build a studio. If only I could run one.” She laughed. Well she didn't have to this time, as she recorded Slidin' in Don's new studio The Roster. “It is a little overwhelming listening to music I recorded in a studio I helped to build. Pretty crazy.” Slidin' (2008)Dirty Wings Distant Sky
